xmas
I can't believe Friday people will be opening presents already. This year def went by way too fast for me and I've made a mental note to try and take next year a little slower.
Project 1 is coming along nicely, should have it done during the next week. Got caught up in some home projects(painting radiator covers, organizing and cleaning of the basement, etc.) so it has taken a bit longer than expected. But it is going to be hilarious and well worth the wait so be on the look out for the post.
Hope everyone else out there enjoyed 2009 and is having a great holiday season so far!

Project: Project Per Week
So to keep things moving over here I'm instituting a project per week quota for the Face Punch basement. Today I'm doing some cleaning and starting the first project, I def need to find my tripod though...
Readers (all 3 of you) please comment on what kind of projects you'd like to see from us, can be anything you can think of...within reason of course...

I'm Full...
With the eating holiday officially over I can return to my task of basement studio stardom...
Updates abound! I have purchased all the supplies I need to begin painting the basement walls. The final section of the studio has been cleaned up and gone through so that we are no longer surrounded by any clutter which is nice, can't believe how much room there is down here for activities. I've been on the search for items of mine that will benefit the studio; posters, toys, useful items like the Canon tripod I still can't find.
Keeping checking in as the painting of the basement will yeild the before and after photos!

Photoshop Fun
Through the years I must say my photoshop skills were put to rough use for the side of evil rather than good. Requests from people wanting to see the infamous "Mak Face" used in different ways provided me with time in Photoshop and others time spent laughing. Hit the link below for more of the "Mak Face" phenomenon....

Basement Make Over
So I was approached in conjunction with my good friend Mike's site, Leafygreen.info, to see if I was willing to review some paint. This turned out to be perfect since I decided not long into the process of making the basement into a design studio that I wanted to change the colors down there. The product is Safe Paint from The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co., Inc..
So I said yes, the paint has arrived already, now I just need to go pick up some supplies and get started. Look for a full review on the product at Leafgreen.info coming soon.

Photoshop Work
1st Draft
Final
At the top is initial design ideas for a Behnke Boys Clan Logo to be used for the Warhawk Game on PS3 for my clan I was heading up. After a few changes, mainly to the flame the lower image shows what I ended up with. Just some fun photoshop work done for S&G's.
Used an image of a quarter to make the coin behind the skull, the skull was an actual image of a human skull filtered down to what you see above. Warhawk wings are in the background, "Mors Ab Alto" on the coin means "Death from above" in Latin. 178 was the street address for the house that the majority of the gamers in the clan lived in a few years back.
Fists of Love
Well week is moving slow, did minimal design things during this period which is disappointing. Today we take a new photo for the banner of this blog. Keith gets to get punched in the face(with my fist, not the fists shown above), he believes in his art and is willing to take a good shot to the dome for realism.
In other news we'll be painting the basement soon, I'm taking before pictures tonight to show the cleaning of the shelf area/other wall, and so that we'll be able to look at the differences with the new paint up in a few weeks. Definitely super excited and so should you. Stay tuned for the new banner and prepainting/shelf cleaning pictures.

Weekend...
So the weekend seemed long but was nice. Friday had Moe and I rearranging parts of his apartment to provide added room/creative space. Saturday morning was spent in the basement doing the same thing for myself, cleaning/rearranging/organizing. It's coming along quite nice down there. More tutorials and Dreamweaver work, snuck in a little Photoshop.
Next week, pictures of the basement set up so far, promise...

Oh Werd!
So this friday Face Punch has some work to do at the Off Site office of the studio, Dirty Jersey City Style.
So Moe and I will be working on getting his place optimally set up for optimal creativity. Gonna Feng Shui the shit out of it so he can go between his art, his movies and entertainment, his video games, and of course his food with maximum efficiency. Also, sometimes when you live in a place long enough you just have to make a change.
Maybe some before and after photos of our work, maybe some pics of the headquarters, who knows what will be posted next on here...

Long Day Today
So I haven't been able to fully set up my new machine yet. I own all firewire 400 drives, without USB. So with the new iMac only having a firewire 800 port, I am unprepared. I ordered one a 400 to 800 cable online along with an optical audio cable to hook up to the receiver. I've also been pondering wall and ceiling speakers in the basement so went ahead and picked up some in wall rated speaker wire so I'm ready if I choose to go in that direction. We'll see, and also I'm a jerk by not posting picture of the full basement...

New Mac
So my computer should be here sometime between the 23rd and the 29th. Can't wait to get things moving. will review on the new machine and the new multi-touch "Magic Mouse."
Also I've been thinking I want to paint the basement a different color for the studio side. This may need to happen...

Hoping for Tomorrow...
That the new iMacs will finally drop.
Let's hope so, my wait will finally be over and we'll get to producing some real content. Until then, click over to Moe's DIY Art Blog for some constantly updating art content.

Threats
My wife threatened to punch me in the face... I let her know that she could only do it if we took a picture to replace the pic in the current banner for the site...

Another Day
More iMac rumors abound, supposedly they'll be coming with quad-core processors in the form of Core i7 "Clarksfield" mobile processors from Intel. Can't complain about that, just wish they would go on sale already so I can buy one.
More cleaning later of the basement in preparation of the studio being finished. I've put together a list of items I would like to include in the studio besides the regular stuff for work:
1. 32" wall mounted LCD TV
2. HDMI run from upstairs systems to said TV
3. Drafting Table
4. Fridge
5. Hot Chocolate/Latte Machine
6. Comfy Loveseat
7. Alligator on a Chain(Security)

I spent some more time teaching myself some web design, hope to have up my real site asap. I realize that the only problem with self teaching is you can't ask the teacher questions, since you're the teacher(aka person without the answer).
Either way it seems to be going well so far with the help on a few online resources. Once the site is built and ready I just have to fill it with some of my portfolio and slap that baby on the interwebs.
Side Note: Moe is back from Cali with a new found inspiration. Hopefully the studio will be up and running by the end of the month. Photos as it is now to come soon.

More work and more waiting...
Did some more work cleaning things out to get ready for the new computer and get this thing rolling....unfortunately the wait may kill me...
There hasn't been much word as far as when we can expect new iMacs to drop, just the old rumors from the end of September which are nothing but vague. So far the desk and home entertainment center areas are set up for the most part.
So I wait, with this blog that has nothing to offer on the side of what kind of work we're doing but rather how we're waiting. Waiting to one day unleash the creative powerhouse that is untapped in the lowest level of my house...

Setting Up the Studio
The studio, aka my basement, after 2.5 years of living in my home became something you might see on the A&E show Hoarders...

Apparently when you have a new kid and no desire to clean places you don't go in the house, stuff will magically build up there without slowing. Now after serious purging and a yard sale the space is pretty much ready for the final setup. The new printer is in, waiting on the new iMacs to drop to replace my broken PowerBook and iBook, and eventually I want to get a small TV down there as well.
I'll get some pics up soon of the progress.
